SPECIAL PROGRAM FOR EMPLOYMENT OF STUDENTS (SPES)

SPES was conceptualized to help poor but deserving high school and college students all over the ARMM areas as during implementation of the said summer program, the number of student-beneficiaries is used to be equitably distributed to the five (5) provinces and two (2) cities of the region so as to ensure great and favorable impact on the government’s job creation, poverty eradication thrusts and promotion of youth education.

The SPES program is conducted during summer vacation of the year. Participants are assigned to work in SPES-registered private establishments, government institutions and departments. Work duration is a minimum of 15 but not more than 45 days. Participants are entitled to at least a minimum wage. 60% of this is paid by the employer. 40% is paid by the Department of Labor and Employment.

SPES is open to all qualified high school, college or vocational students or drop-outs and interested employers. SPES start of registration is on March every year on a first come first serve basis.
